The creation of this necklace started with hand dyed mock chenille yarn purchased at Fiber Creek in The Firehouse Plaza, downtown Prescott. I then utilized my Marudai, handcrafted by Will Taylor in the Bay Area.
His handcrafted turned wooden tools are a delight. My bobbins or Tama came from www.LoomNessence.net online, designed by Majacraft.
The great thing about Kumihimo is you can seed bead or off loom bead weave right through the braid. This makes it so easy to adorn your Kumihimo.
On the braid itself I added small lampwork beads formed by using Moretti glass rods and recycled Kahlua bottle glass. I used a curtain rod ring for the focal pendant and covered it with right angle weave off loom bead weaving and inserted a vintage button in the middle of the ring. Around the ring long branch stitch beading was used to create a waterfall adornment.
This piece along with all of my bead work can be found at Arts Prescott Cooperative Gallery.
