Recently I began to create my own cords for my necklaces using the Japanese Art of Braiding or Kumihimo.
I was lucky enough to acquire a hand made Marudal created by Spinner, Weaver and Wood Turner Willard Taylor. Will is active in many of the guilds in California. He and his wife Kate are very active in Treadles and Treads Guild in the Bay Area and Will is President this year at the Sacramento Spinning and Weaving Guild.
Check with your local spinning and weaving shops to see if they have any of Will's work.
It is always fun to work with wonderful equipment ... pretty makes pretty!
The Tama Bobbins come from Majacraft. They are the nicest I have found. They too are small works of art.
Check at Arts Prescott Cooperative Gallery, 134 S. Montezuma Street, Historical Whiskey Row in Prescott, Arizona to see my Kumihimo Braided Cords.
The Cotton Yarn I am working with in the photo comes from A Good Yarn in Downtown Prescott.
Don't forget the gallery Holiday Party this Friday from 6 to 8:30PM

Will Taylor's handcrafted wood working pieces are the best. I not only appreciate the outstanding quality of each of his wood working tools, but I totally respect the time and reseach Will has put in to making all of his pieces functional. Here at Loom N Essence we can barely keep his spinning tools in stock. Thanks for the share on his beautiful Marudal piece and I know that your Japaneese Kumihimo corded necklaces are just stunning like all of your work. Thanks again.
