Learn to wet felt around a small object (your found object), then cut part of the felt away, creating a bezel to reveal your “treasure” beneath. Further embellishment possibilities will be presented using beads and decorative stitching, then as time allows, we will apply the various embellishment techniques.

- 2-3 old hand towels - Rubber gloves - Small sharp scissors (such as embroiderer scissors) & regular scissors - Small plastic bowl or cottage cheese-size container - Sewing needle and a few colors of sewing thread - Miscellaneous beads and a needle that will go through your beads (optional) - Qualities to look for in your found object to be felted: Waterproof. 1.5”- 3” in size. Shape can be uneven or uniform but approximately ¼” - 3/8” of the found object will be hidden by the bezel. Thickness can vary – best if it is 3/8” or less. Weight - try to keep it somewhat light. Not too fragile - it might break (e.g., sand dollar) - Suggestions: Buttons, laminated photo, laminated paper surfaces, stone or rock, plastic pieces, metal grid |

Instructor Bio: Michelle has been an enthusiastic fiber artist for over 24 years, ever since ‘discovering’ fiber as an art form, while attending the Kansas City Art Institute. Her work has been shown in international art-to-wear competitions, galleries and boutiques across the United States – this includes one-of-a-kind wearables, home décor, hand-painted yarns and fabrics. She has a BA in Art and has been teaching various fiber-related workshops/classes for the past several years.
