I began loving beads after I discovered African Trade Beads and I still have a collection of wonderful stands of them.
Here is a brooch used as a pendant that we go in the gallery today.
I began with a trade bead and encased it with Peyote Stitch. The tear drop beads were purchased at Bead It, a bead shop in Prescott. I often drop by there to see what I can find.
The bead fringe consists of fresh water pearls, glass beads, one agate round bead and of course....Lampwork Kahlua Beads.

Guilds, Inc. is planning their sixth biannual conference for April 15-18,
2010. The name of the conference will be "Fibers Through Time 2010"
and the theme is "Fiber Odyssey". This conference will be held at the

registration will begin Thursday, April 15, 2010 at 3.00 PM. Friday and Saturday
classes will be about six hours each day. There will be a catered lunch provided
both days. Sunday classes are morning only, from 8:30 AM to 11:30 AM. This is a
total of 15 hours of teaching time.

I purchased these Clay Faces many moons ago from the Dragonfly Bead Shop in Yuma, Arizona.
I enjoy using peyote stitch to frame the faces and adorning them with vintage buttons, lampwork beads, stone beads, fresh water pearls and piece I love.
Becky Cooper, Lampwork Bead Artist, came into Arts Prescott Cooperative Gallery yesterday to show me her beads. I was so sad that I had to leave for an appointment because I didn't get to see them all. Here work is great to say the least.
Here is a Grape Bead that I feel in love with. With loving Recycled Wine Bottle Glass this lampwork bead created by Becky Cooper is very special to me.

I began this brooch with a Faceted Cabochon which I found at Arizona Gems in Prescott Valley, Arizona.
A recycled Kahlua bottle glass piece was lampworked into a Rowena Drop and adorned with Fresh Water Pearls. I then used brick stitch and peyote stitch to create this brooch.
Most of my brooches have pins running vertically to enable the wearer to slip the pin through a chain and use it as a pendant as well as a brooch.

Mary Hettmansperger – Designing Fiber Jewelry – Woven, Found and Forged
The goal of this
three day session is to introduce students to a variety of weaving techniques
that can be interpreted into jewelry. Coiling, looping, twining, knotting,
sumac, and plaiting will all be used and incorporated into a variety of jewelry
pieces. Each technique will be learned through the making of a piece of
jewelry. Once the techniques have been covered students will then explore low
tech metal work, cold connections, and combining the many techniques. All
levels.
Materials Fee: $10-$40 depending on what students bring and what is used of instructor's materials.

Pick up Art Walk Guilds at Galleries on Historical Whiskey Row
Friday and Saturday at Arts Prescott Cooperative Gallery on Historical Whiskey Row was enjoyed by many visitors.
Here is Meralee Shannon. Meralee came in looking for Swarwarski Crystal jewelry to wear to a special event. She met Lana Ante and purchased both ear rings and a necklace. Lana customized the ear rings to fit exactly what Meralee envisioned.
While at the gallery Meralee discovered my Recyced Lampwork created with Wine Bottle Glass. Here she is modeling the Brooch she purchased as a pendant.
The trip into Arts Prescott inspired Meralee to check out the bead shops in her home state and learn how to design with beads as well. I love to see a new beader born.
After traveling a lot at the beginning of the summer and seeing the different fun charm and bead bracelets I came home and created Lampwork Beads to fit them.
These charms with Merlot, Chardonnay, Kahlua, Riesling and Pinot Noir were created to be compatible with Pandora, Chamilia, Biagi and all of the popular brands of charm collectible bracelets which are popular at this time. I wear my Pandora Bracelet with many of my Recycled Wine Bottle Beads on it along with the original charms from Denmark.

Retzlaff Winery provided a wonderful setting for over 150 spinners and their wheels and 10 vendors for Spinning at The Winery. The Wine Tasting was a lot of fun too.
This is the donation I took for the Treadles to Threads Raffle. I has 3 Lampwork Recycled Kahlua Bottle Beads with larger holes to accommodate the new tread in charm bracelets.
It was won by my friend Glenda which was amazing considering all the people bidding in the raffle.
This event is an event to put on your June calendar for next year.
During the Spinning at the Retzlaff Winery in Livermore, California the Treadles to Treads Spinning and Weaving Guild hosted a huge raffle.
What a fun event.
After having a great lunch which consisted of a pot luck. Spinners and Weavers are great cooks too.

The weather was perfect for Spinning at the Winery.

Treadles and Treads had a table with all of the hand made purses and black and white tee shirts with the Spinning at The Winery Logo. Here is Dilija who made many of the purses herself. She was in charge of the Tee Shirt Sales at that point in time.

Sandy from Sandy's Fleeces is knitting while enjoying watching her grand daughter and friend felt next to her fleece.

Along side the wine plants small tractors were enjoyed by some of the smaller people who joined in with their parents for the Spinning at the Winery Event in Livermore, California.
There were few children at the event, but the kids there were well behaved and watched by their parents.

You can just see the wheels turning while wondering what will be done with all of the wonderful fleece purchased at Spinning at the Winery.
Many took choice fleece to the Morro Fleece Works which was also represented at Spinning at the Winery. They do such a great join cleaning the fleece and turning it into roving to spin.
Spinning at the Winery, Livermore, California 2009 was bigger and better than the past years.
Will and Kate Taylor are responsible for founding this event some years ago and it is a highlight event of each year for spinners and Weavers.

I must say that I enjoyed the Wine tasting during the afternoon and ended up loving the 2007 Merlot Rose Isabelle's Blush and the marvelous Retzlaff Port from the Livermore Valley.

A casual
spinner's, knitter's and weaver's guild which emphasizes spinning and welcomes
all levels of spinners. We specialize in teaching those who have never spun but
are interested in learning. Our guild meets monthly for general meetings,
usually with some type of program. On Monday afternoons, year round, our "Monday
Spinners" meet for the afternoon just to spin. Beginners are especially welcome
on those days.
