Local artist joins in on the Egg Show at Arts Prescott Cooperative Gallery.
Arts Prescott enjoys creating their hand painted Easter
Eggs to hand them on
the Easter Tree. This custom comes from an old European
Tradition.
Joining in on this years Egg Show is Local Artist Sunny Klapp. Sunny is a Pysanky Artist. Pysanka translated from Ukrainian is an egg that has been written on. These eggs were written upon with repeated applications of hot wax and dye and it is a time communing batik art process.
Sunny Klapp has been creating this EGG ART for the past 10
years. She applies hot beeswax and aniline dyes to chicken, duck, goose and
ostrich eggs. Fabric motifs, quilt patterns and traditional designs from
many cultures find their way onto this organic canvas. Sunny's boundless
enthusiasm for her art is evident when she talks about this process. She
says, "I have never held an egg I did not like".
This show will be in
the window of Arts Prescott Cooperative Gallery, 134 South Montezuma Street
on Historical Whiskey Row in Prescott from April 3 to April 16, 2009.
Gallery hours are from 10 AM to 6 PM. Drop by and view the artful eggs.
