As many of my blog readers know I no longer can create my Raggedy Ro Handspun yarn ... my allergies got the best of me. "A Good Yarn" in Prescott has been selling the last of my Raggedy Ro and they have 2 skeins left. Yesterday I got a call from Deb Dorrell telling me that a skein sold so I immediately turned that money into a Pandora Sterling Silver Charm for my bracelet.
I was able to get in on the beginning of the Hans Christian Andersen Pandora collection. Pandora has three charms to celebrate Andersen's work and his life. "Famous for his fairy tales which were sophisticated moral teachings" writes Pandora USA.com Hans Christian Andersen followers celebrate his work and life with collecting his work. 200 Years...1805 to 1875 ... The Top Hat was his signature and Pandora's Charm bears his initials HCA on the front of the hat charm and 200 years on the back.
"The Ugly Duckling" This charm is not longer sold because the limited number of The Ugly Duckly has been sold. This was one charm was obtained along with the Top Hat. Just luck!
"Princess and the Pea"
This is the charm I purchased yesterday. The collection is dear to me because I have always loved the Andersen Tales. During my last trip to Denmark I visited the Hans Christian Museum which is actually his home in Odense, Denmark. It left a lasting impression for me.
For More information on Andersen himself and his work go to:
http://www.andersen.sdu.dk/center/index_e.html "Hans Christian Andersen (1805-1875), the world-famous Danish author, whose work has been translated into almost 150 languages, was born in Odense - then Denmark´s second largest town, today the third largest. The first 14 years of his life were spent in this town, which provided him with subject matter for several of his fairy-tales, as well as for parts of novels, memoirs and plays. For this reason, the Hans Christian Andersen Center is ideally located at the University of Southern Denmark. In Odense you will also find the museums Hans Christian Andersen´s House and Hans Christian Andersen´s Childhood"

My sister Patricia Brockert is a volunteer at the Prescott Woman's Shelter. She has talked about Penny's Purses for some time and today I was able to see some of the original Purses created by Penny. I will show them tomorrow on my blog.
This is one of the PAWS Volunteer Group for Hand Made Purses adorned by Patricia which is among many other beautiful hand made purses which are shown at the Open Door, a program of the Coalition for Compassion & Justice.
Here is some information about the fundraiser in December 2009:
Erika Stone writes, "The Prescott Area Women's Shelter will be holding its First Annual Winter Fundraiser on December 3rd, 2009 at Jazzy's Wine Bar from 6-8pm. The event will include a silent auction, raffle, complimentary hor'dourves, a no-host bar and live entertainment. Some of the silent auction items include themed holiday gift baskets, a two-night winter getaway at Comfort Inn White Spar, or a private Italian dinner for six including cocktails and chianti, appetizers, fettucine alfredo with proscuitto, and dessert. A portion of drink sales, and all proceeds from the silent auction and raffle will benefit the Prescott Area Women's Shelter. Invitations will be sent out soon along with raffle tickets for purchase. writes: "A little Glam to make your yarns shine! As seen in HollyEQQ yarns and the tools used to make glam balls! Unlike angeline, using glam in large amounts tends to look more messy and less classy - creating a totally different visual impact. Or use a couple of threads for just a hint of class! A must have for every spinners tool box. A little goes a long way. approx 1/2 oz"

This "Traveling Hat" is one of my favorites finds.
Holly writes, "This is a one of a kind handmade hat by HollyEQQ and Sandy of Homesteadwoolandgiftfarm.com. What? You wonder how we colab'd on a project across the country? Well, the wool started on the hineys of her sheepie... then it came to me to be washed and dyed... then I gifted the fiber BACK to her and sent some pretty strips of fabrics for her to play with... and she spun a funky much attitude yarn and then gifted it BACK to me! Lots of love there. Then I knit up this amazing hat! It is a big, comfy, soft and love-able hat sure to fit ANY adult head. With lovely lightly braided straps in case you get caught in a monsoon or want to go open door helicoptering"

I always enjoy finding a new fun blog. Here is one sent to me by one of the members of the Southwest Fiber Association.
This photo was sent along with the e-mail.
Everyone only had wonderful things to say about the Fiber Festival. I didn't attend this year. I was at an all year class reunion from my high school days. That was fun too!
